Who is Sara? Sara is a young, shy, introverted 10 year old girl, dealing with life, such as it is. The first thing that bothers her is when she sees bullies in the school yard and wonders why they have to be so mean to other kids. One of life''s problems that disgusts her. This is where Solomon, a beautiful white owl, came into her life. A ''Wise'' owl, to say the least, but aren''t all owls wise? Solomon was far wiser than any owl Sara had ever known. He taught her many lessons about why life is the way it is and how she can change it in her own mind. Throughout the story, Sara learns about many things that she could do to make the world a better place to be in. Solomon was Sara''s best friend, totally devastated when her bothersome brother and his friend, shot Solomon. Sara didn''t think she could be any more miserable. A few days later, she was walking her favorite trail on the way home from school, her thoughts of losing Solomon, when she heard his voice call to her. She couldn''t see Solomon and asked where he was. He answered, he was there and that he''d been there all along, all she had to do was ask for him. She didn''t like talking to someone she couldn''t see and she really missed looking at his physical body, his beautiful, wise eyes and seeing his white feathers casting a soft glow around him. Solomon and Sara had many enlightening conversations, about her doubts, fears, attitudes, and questions about everything going on in her life. Even though he was in her head and she couldn''t him, Solomon helps Sara learn to count her blessings, look at things with good thoughts in her mind instead of negative thoughts , she realizes life is hers to control and every part of life can be wonderful if she wants it bad enough.
